In the following, we would like to inform you about the most important requirements for handling electrical and electronic equipment in accordance with the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG).

A.  General information on disposal

-          Old appliances must be collected separately from unsorted municipal waste in special collection and return systems.

-          Used batteries and accumulators that are not enclosed in the old device, as well as lamps that can be removed from the old device without causing damage, must generally be separated from the old device before being handed over to a collection point. This does not apply if old devices are prepared for reuse with the involvement of a public waste disposal authority.

-          The symbol of a crossed-out dustbin usually shown on the devices indicates that the device may not be disposed of as old equipment with unsorted municipal waste.

B.  Information on the possibility of returning old equipment for end users

Information on the fulfilment of the quantitative targets for waste equipment according to Sections 10 (3) and 22 (1) of the ElektroG can be found on the website of the Federal Environment Ministry ("Statistics").
